There are a lot of examples and stories about hard work, dedication, and diligence. But some are specifically unique and worth mentioning. I am sitting on my desk which is window cornered. After few days of an extreme heat wave, the weather outside is very pleasant with showers after intervals. I was thinking about something to write. On my background a news channel broadcasting usual news and stories. Suddenly a news caught my attention, that Pakistan’s first visually impaired judge takes the oath. Saleem Yousaf was not your usual type of guy. His life was filled with struggle with dreams. People do have dreams and they struggle to fulfill them during which they face a lot of hurdles even then sometimes it takes more than struggle to achieve. But His dream was expensive. He was blind by birth. He is a son of a charted accountant and has four sisters. His two sisters are also blind. His sister Saima Saleem was the first blind civil servant of Pakistan and currently working as a Deputy Secretary, Economic Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office at Foreign Service of Pakistan. Their dreams weren’t ordinary yet they did go for it.
Yousaf crossed every possible hurdle in his way. In judge’s exam, He topped in 300 candidates in which 21 were selected. At this stage of the journey, His eternal fate became his enemy. His blindness got him rejected in interview stages. That was the only obstacle He couldn’t cross. He cannot fight with God’s plan. He was blind likewise his believe in himself also blind. Even fate itself was so impressed with Him that it decided to help him. Chief justice of Pakistan took notice of the matter. Eventually, He becomes the first civil magistrate of Pakistan. That was a story of a man whose world is dark but wants to make his future bright. His eyes maybe dark but light in His heart is very bright. You need hard work and devotion to achieve your dream in life but sometimes it’s not enough and it requires more than that, and that is your blind trust.
